Bhaalspawn by JC-Blade Bhaalspawn by JC-Blade
Now this took me a while, mainly because I dared to do the line art on the PC. Nice clean lines but terrible time-devourer.

So, Narra the Gray (after her late father Gorion) - in this case largely inspired by Witchblade & Darkness comics but I'd like to point out that that black thing isn't any sort of magical armor. It's Bhaal's taint manifesting atop of her skin. Once it covers every speck of her she transforms into a Slayer. And sweet mercy, does she love turning into a Slayer.

Lovable character, ain's she?

She olooks super stunning here, I like the way the taint is partially covering her and that she totally don't care. =)

you should consider giving her more of a back story. She seems like a very interesting--and well-designed--character :)

She has a back story. A lot of it in fact. She's been growing with me as a character since the first days when BG1 came out.

I don't usually post character's bios with their pictures. I might as well write a full fanfiction with all the background that she has.

Thank You, she is always a pleasure to work with :D

I really should, shouldn't I? But paper is so easy and comfortable for me to work with that I get frustrated almost every time now when I have to stare at the screen :( Yeah, I went backwards...

You're welcome as always :)

Both traditional and digital works are awesome if you have the skills to make them thay way. And I believe you have, so that's why I propose to try to evolve both. Your traditional works are great so it's no problem if you like to focus on that, I just thought that in digital works, where you have more flexibility in trying and erasing, you could have more fun. But on the other hand, that's up to you, so just keep up the good work, on whatever media you like. It's not the media that makes an arwork great

I do want to improve and try to strive for it, I just find patience and focus hard to come by for me for a while now. I also want to change the way I draw humans/humanoids, so I'm practicing with a lot of sketching left and right. Perhaps that's why I can't finish works now. I get bored of them after getting the basics down

I can fully understand you, it's not an easy task.
That's a pity to left them unfinished, but in the end, it is not a waste of time, but a sacrifice for the greater progress :)
Can't wait to see that new style you're working, wish you all the best with it and a kung fu master patience (that's quite a lot of patience lol)

Okay that is pretty cool. I may not know a ton about Bhaalspawn but if they all can do that then they are amazing. I like the look of all the armor and eyes everywherre, that is awesome. I also love that hand, it looks so cool.

What does Bhaal even look like? I know that he's got a Dragonkid, and a giant kid to?
Is the Slayer what he looks like?

He was a god. He could look like anything he wished. He was a human assassin before he became a god through.

<3 I see Narra is looking stunning as usual. I know what you mean about digital lineart. Man, it kills me too. Takes SO long at times.

I like her taintedness, especially the eyes. The red, yellow and black work so well together. I imagine she's be pretty lethal in battle by now. Xan would probably die of fright :P

It took me more than eight hours to do the line art. EIGHT freakin' hours! In the end coloring suffered for it because i got bored with the picture :(

Xan? Who is this Xan you speak of? Lady Narra has more important business to deal with than constantly look back to the past. Like running the Shadow Thieves ;P

Ugh, this is why I have a whole ton of random sketches that I scribble while at work, and far fewer pieces of digital art (which are mostly unfinished).

Hah, sounds like she's doing very well for herself then. Bhaalspawnn are such fun characters to have (which is probably why I have so many of them).

That's why I prefer pencils and ball-point pens at the expense of clean, crispy lines. It's undoubtedly faster.

I used to have a male Bhaalspawn called Horus (how original -_-) slated for Viconia's romance but when I tried to roleplay him, he might have as well been Narra in disguise. That's why I keep one character per game. They already own large chunks of my brain, no place for any other variation.

There's also a certain quality that pencil and pen sketches have which I've never been able to replicate on a computer (some like pencil brushes come close, but not quite).

Oh? That could still be interesting :P I start off with one character per game... But then they just... Grow. More pop up all over the place. I try to keep one per romance at least, but even with those I end up with more than one sometimes. For example just the other day I was looking at the Haer'Dalis romance and another Bhaalspawn decided to pop into my head. I think my brain must be an absolute mess of different characters by now :P But I do always have my favourites/main ones for each game.

When I go through the romances I usually try to imagine how Narra would react to each person in question. It often results in interesting ways :) But I'm yet to create another Bhaalsapwn in full. Or another Spirit-Eater. Or Courier...

That makes sense, certainly saves you from having more characters than you can keep up with (I must have about... 5 Bhaalspawn now). It would help in keeping them from getting mixed up too. Though I sometimes start a game intending to do a certain romance, like with my half-drow spirit eater... And then she just refused to romance Gann. So eventually another spirit eater character popped up to annoy him as much as possible.

Ah, Narra. One moment she's white and fluffy, the next she's covered in black spike-y tainted darkness of murder. Love the new look and the scars (usually I forgo scars altogether and just burn my bhaalspawns face off.)
Also the boots... I want those boots.

When was she ever fluffy :P It was all a ruse man, a ruse I tell you.

Those aren't boots, silly. Her boots are under all that chitin :)

A white and fluffy ruse nontheless. :P
Well then I want the chitin! (Even though something tells me trying to take the chitin/boots will result in a horrible, horrible death)

Her scars are made of awesome. Why should she bother to hide them :D

I'll tell you this much, those are actual eyes and there are actual mouths somewhere in those shadows. Probably in the places you least expect ;)

I'm curious, how does it work? She can't turn into Slayer everytime she would like to and has to wait for taint to cover her? And after transforming from Slayer to her normal self is she (almost) clean (or however would you call it) or the blackness is covering bigger part of her?

And the picture - yesss, so pretty. Although I like her new hairstyle, I sort of miss her long hair, but her clothes, posture and colouring make up for it :)

She can do rapid transitions if necessary, although that results into more bestial mindset and appearance. Taint-armor is there as much as for intimidating as is for causing extra damage and boosting power. There is always a part of the taint topside - usually in the form of gauntlets and shinguards.

Long hair is pretty but impractical. And blood is murder to wash out of it ;P
